Coaching helps you achieve goals by using structured questions and exercises, to guide you in unlocking your potential. We work with you in a collaborative and client-led style, to facilitate self-discovery and support your own desired growth trajectory.
Therapy helps identify and manage deep psychological wounds, using psychological techniques
and long-term exploration. Therapists will aim for diagnosis and treatment, which can be very therapist-directed and may feel intrusive for some clients. Once a client is stabilised and diagnosed, there is usually a referral to further healthcare pathways or continued counselling.
Counselling is designed to help navigate and manage life challenges, and therapeutically diagnosed issues/behaviours. Counsellors will help the client talk through issues, providing information, insights and guidance. They will recommend and teach specific coping strategies, but adoption and success requires client collaboration. Counselling is often in support of therapy or other healthcare pathways.
Mentoring is about sharing wisdom and experience. This is often a less formal process, very common in workplaces and on-the-job learning. Mentors offer advice, and share knowledge and personal
insights, with a focus on the functional development requested by the mentee or their sponsor.
Yes! The techniques used are different and complimentary.
It is helpful for us practitioners to be aware of each other, be able to contact each other (please see FAQ about confidentiality), and to know which aspects of your wellbeing each of us is assisting with.
Sometimes a client shares information about their problems or mental health, which indicates needs that will not be met responsibly through coaching. If this happens, I will signpost for the additional services, such as counsellors.
Coaching sessions are usually 1 hour long, at the same time each week.
The amount of time you spend on self development, applying tools you've learned about, and holistically (consciously or unconsciously) on your wellbeing, will vary based on the program design, and your personal engagement.
Generally, you would spend 1-2 hours across the week on homework and feedback, in addition to the hour session. As you begin to integrate the exercises and develop self-awareness, you may notice a lot more time will be spent mindful of, and choosing, specific behaviours and techniques. This is ultimately the aim of coaching - a lifestyle improvement where the better version of you is a way of life, not a homework assignment.
If your sessions are online, I will provide you in advance with a Teams meeting link, and a secure SharePoint location for your feedback forms, worksheets etc. It is important that you have a configured device and internet connection, from which you can access these.
Additionally, please ensure your location is private, without disturbances or distractions. This will include us both putting our phones on silent, and out of view. Please notify me at the start of a session if you are expecting any disturbances during your session.
Other items that may help you feel more comfortable during the session are highly encouraged:
During our planning session, we will discuss the number of participants and requirements. Generally, we would require a private (soundproof) space where the participants can sit and write comfortably. I will bring a laptop and need to display content to the room.
Depending on the exact requirements, we may also need breakout areas, or a free-movement space in the room. For some programs, the participants will also have 1:1 online sessions, as described in the FAQ above.
I strongly encourage management to ensure that coaching is during normal work hours, without distractions and impingements from their colleagues, and with suitable support to pick up tasks the participants are not in office to do. Participants can become very distracted and demotivated by any perception that there will be a backlog of work and expectations to catch up on, upon return. As my corporate programs are designed to make your teams more effective and cohesive, it is important that we make their participation a holistically positive experience.
Individual coaching is usually priced around £1400 for a 12 week program (£700 for the 6 week program).
Group coaching prices vary depending on the program design and support being provided, but usually work out cheaper than the individual programs.
Corporate bookings will be negotiated along similar lines, based on participants, custom design, travel/logistics etc.
I do run special offers from time to time, including FREE starter courses, or reduced rates during launch windows. Please use the Contact form to enquire.
For individual clients, after your FREE discovery call, I will provide you with details for PayPal or direct bank payment. (I am still setting up facilities to take debit/credit card - please bear with me).
Payment for the first 6 weeks is due before the first booked session. For 12 week courses, the second half of payment is due before the seventh booked session.
Clients who choose to continue with 1:1 personal coaching after a program, can move to monthly payments, paid in advance, based on the pre-agreed number of sessions per month.
For corporate bookings, after our planning meeting, I will follow your guidelines for supplier setup.
You will be invoiced twice: for 25% of the total cost, due before the date of the first program session; and for the balance, due within 15 days of the completion of the last agreed program session.
If a participant will continue with 1:1 personal coaching after the program, at company expense, you will be invoiced monthly, due in advance, based on the pre-agreed number of sessions per month.
I adhere to the codes of ethics of the British Psychological Society and the International Coaching Federation, as well as data and information protection legislation in the UK.
I take confidentially very seriously, so your data, information, any homework, recordings and notes are securely stored. What we discuss in sessions may only be shared with your direct consent (e.g. with another healthcare professional), except if:
In these circumstances, coaches are obliged to contact your relevant emergency contacts and/or other healthcare providers and/or authorities.
But what if my company or parents are paying?
If you are not paying for your coaching yourself, your sponsor will be clearly informed, and agree, that they do not have access to the information you share during sessions, except in the circumstances listed above.
Some of my programs are suitable for young people, over 16 years old.
I am CBR/DBS checked, to allow for safeguarding. Many young people struggle to participate online due to distractions and confidentiality concerns, and benefit most from in-person sessions.
